First place in Gauteng Championships, Boat Race and South African Schools' Rowing Championships was no simple task and came with a lot of hard work and dedication. Three days of intense racing led the St Mary’s rowing club to achieve what every other rowing club wanted. With a nerve rackingly small point difference between first and second place, St Mary’s managed to win the title of the top girls rowing school in South Africa. This is a huge achievement, and the athletes and coaches should be beyond proud of themselves.

St Mary’s also was awarded the top age group trophies for U16 and U19. South African national Championships 2023 ended the rowing season on a high as the club readies to close the boat house for the winter.

This rowing season is one to remember and could not have been a success without the tremendous help of the St Mary’s rowing community. A huge thank you to the parents who worked tirelessly, cooking and selling food to raise funds and those who drove endlessly from one dam to the next and the coaching team, for the outstanding results.

The upcoming rowing dinner is the last event and is an exciting opportunity to reflect on achievements, improvements and friendships made.
