The Senior School is where young women are nurtured to grow into confident, compassionate and capable individuals. Education here is a transformative journey, one that encourages academic excellence, independence, personal discovery and the development of integrity and resilience. Intellectual curiosity is fostered through a rigorous yet enriching curriculum, while co-curricular activities in sport, culturals and service inspire self-expression, creativity and collaboration.

Our Anglican faith and values are woven into the fabric of school life, providing a strong moral compass that guides our girls in their relationships, decisions and aspirations. Weekly chapel services and Eucharist mark significant moments in the school calendar, reinforcing the importance of faith, community and purpose.

We believe in shaping young women who are academically accomplished, socially conscious and deeply engaged with the world around them. Our girls are encouraged to think critically, lead with courage and serve with humility. They leave St Mary’s with the confidence to embrace challenges, the wisdom to make thoughtful choices and the heart to contribute meaningfully to society.

Our commitment is to every girl who walks through our doors - to equip her with knowledge, instil in her a sense of purpose and empower her to make a meaningful impact in the world.

It is both an honour and a privilege to lead a school that values academic excellence, character development and the holistic growth of our pupils, where these aspects converge to shape the future leaders of tomorrow - ensuring that every girl who passes through our gates emerges as a confident, compassionate and capable individual.

Awards and honours

The school has awards to recognise excellence and to commend girls. Awards are made in accordance with the criteria set down in each discipline.

No half- or full colours will be awarded until Form III. Full colours will be considered only in Form III, and in most instances will be awarded in Forms IV and V.

Awards are given for excellence and commitment to the given discipline, and other factors such as:

  • Loyalty

  • Attitude

  • Behaviour

  • Support for the values of the school

Blazer awards are the highest accolades that girls may achieve. Usually, a girl must have full colours in three of the honours blazer disciplines.

Boarding

St Mary’s offers a unique boarding experience, either full-time or weekly, from Form I (Grade 8) to matric.

There are five lovely homes, each with a charming and friendly ambience. Dedicated staff monitor the academic, social and emotional progress of each girl, ensuring that she thrives in this environment. The boarders are taken on outings, and their experience in boarding is as rich and warm as possible.

Exchanges and tours

Each year group goes on a camp. The camp programme is carefully designed to meet the needs of the group. By experiencing an off-campus programme, the girls are able to extend their skills in a different, and often more challenging, environment, and learn to interact with girls whom they may not have encountered in a team situation.
