Message from the Chaplain: 23 June 2023

REVD RAKGADI KHOBO

On Thursday 15 June, the chapel was led by the chapel leaders and the head girls. Below are excerpts from Langelihle Molefe and Mosa Mdladla's reflections:

As I reflect on the readings this morning, I was able to see the amount of love God has for us as young people. In 1 Timothy 4:12, God wants us to appreciate the power and impact that we have on the world as a generation. Often, we are underestimated and aren’t given the opportunity to show our potential and that might lead to some of us feeling discouraged. It’s hard to shine brightly when there is always someone trying to dim your light at every corner. The challenges we have endured as Form Vs, at times feel like they are never ending and often leave us wondering whether there is any point to this routine. However, God encourages us in this scripture to not let other people underestimate our potential, especially because we are young. As Form Vs, we may think that our job here is done, but it is actually just beginning.

As we are already halfway through our last year of high school, I have noticed a change amongst everyone in the grade. During this very, very tough year so far, I have seen a tremendous amount of internal power that we all possess. Waking up every day and showing up is difficult, when what you face right when you wake up is a huge cloud of anxiety, stress and even sadness.

Psalm 34 reads “seek peace and pursue it.” That line stood out to me because matric is such an unpeaceful state of living. I do not know about you but it is a bit hectic okes out here to put it lightly. Especially during a time where so much is demanded of us every single second of the day. It is important to remember to seek out moments of peace, moments of silence to ground and stabilize you and if you do not know where to start, my advice would be a simple as a short prayer to help guide you.
