From 3 to 7 July, Form Is had an exciting and educational experience during Self-eSTEAM week. We focused on preparing students for the upcoming market day, which takes place on Thursday 3 August as part of the STAMP festival.

Self-eSTEAM week was packed with activities and guest speakers that allowed students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and create products for the market. They learned about budgeting, product creation and testing.

Our students gained valuable knowledge with the Accounting department about finance and budgeting, understanding costs, pricing strategies, and profit margins. They used this information to create realistic budgets for their products, finding a balance between quality and affordability.

As part of their learning journey, our girls had the opportunity to visit the Bryanston Organic Market. Here, they were exposed to various entrepreneurs and their products, opening their eyes to the world of business. They had the chance to interact with skilled artisans, witnessing weaving, vegetable bingo, candle dipping, and other creative endeavours firsthand. The students actively engaged with these entrepreneurs, asking questions and learning how they turned their passion into successful businesses.

The students then put their creativity to work and transformed their ideas into prototypes. They worked together, showcasing their teamwork and resourcefulness as they worked on their own product creation. Students sought feedback from teachers and peers, which assists them in making necessary adjustments to enhance their products' functionality and appeal.

Self-eSTEAM week was a great success, nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among the students. The girls experienced the joy of innovation, problem-solving and teamwork. The week provided them with valuable lessons in adaptability and resilience.

We extend our gratitude to the guest speakers, teachers, staff, and students who made Self-eSTEAM week memorable. The products developed during this week will surely captivate the audience during market day at the STAMP festival.
