Congratulations to Tessa Dagut (Form V), Hayley Laithwaite (Form V) and Francesca Lewitton (Form IV) who have been placed in the top 12 candidates of the 2023 National English Olympiad.

In March this year, more than 5800 students wrote the three-hour examination on the theme A Better World and Tessa, Hayley and Francesca produced creative, sophisticated responses to a range of challenging questions.
The top 12 candidates have been invited to the National Schools’ Festival in Makhanda as guests of the English Olympiad. The final rankings will be announced at the English Olympiad prizegiving on Friday 30 June.

St Mary’s is very proud of our English students and of Ms Knowles who provided valuable guidance to all our candidates.
