Reddam House drawing competition
At the beginning of the year, our Visual Art students entered into the national brown paper drawing competition at Reddam House Umhlanga. The girls were each given a booklet of brown paper on which they had to draw something in response to the theme Unfold Me or Art Accidents. The adjudication took place at Reddam House, Umhlanga, and we are pleased to announce that three of our matric students had works featured in the Top 10 across the country. Congratulations to Sally Mohlakola, Mahlatse Chocho and Lesedi Mochela on this notable achievement!
Form III charcoal drawings
The Form III Visual Art students have been studying the Renaissance art movement in art history. They produced beautifully rendered charcoal drawings of Renaissance sculptures to show how the technique of chiaroscuro (light and dark) can be used across multiple media. These stunning drawings were featured in our inaugural Arts Festival and were met with wonderfully positive feedback from our St Mary’s community.
