Swimming

What a season….
Winners of Summer Splash, winners of National Aquatics Festival and finally winners of the inter-high Premier Gala! We last won this trophy in 2003 when one of our current coaches, Cindy Brown was the captain of the team. In my 19 year tenure at St Mary’s, we lost by one point in 2010 and two points in 2011 but this is a first – a long awaited but very sweet 40 point victory.

We broke records in the following events:

Event 16: U15 4x50m Medley Relay (Marie Ella Maske, Kiera Cloete, Jessica Black and Kyla Grobbelaar)
Event 23: U15 50m Backstroke – Grace Morris
Not to be outdone, our B team swam into 2nd place in the A gala. They were beaten by a strong team from Brescia House who gains promotion to the Premier gala; and Jeppe will be relegated for the galas in 2023.

Congratulations to each and every swimmer. The long hours, early morning and tough sessions really paid off. I think this quote from Ralph Lauren sums up our season; “A lot of hard work is hidden behind nice things.”
