St Mary’s squash captain and matric, Tayla Rohana, competed in the Bloemfontein SA Junior Open earlier in March where she finished 14th out of 54 players. This is one the three tournaments used to determine junior national rankings. We are extremely proud and pleased to have a squash representative in the top 15 in the country.

The U16 squash team participated in St Andrew’s SAHNS festival where they finished second. The team was comprised of Annabelle Villet, McKenzie Coakley-Eager and Tania Weeple. All played exceptionally well, only losing two fixtures: one to a strong St Stithians team, who were ultimately the winners and one to Kingsmead whom we beat in the final results.

The Joburg Junior Squash 2022 Graded Tournament was held at the Western Rackets Squash Centre from 4-6 March. St Mary’s had sevengirls who played in the tournament. Sentle Magongwa, an up and coming junior finished 3rd in the U14 age group with her teammates Charlotte Bowden finishing 2nd and Amy Saunders finishing 1st. Tayla Giles finished 9th in the U15 section. Our U16 number 1 player and 1st team player, Megan Saunders, finished 1st in the tournament without dropping a single game the entire tournament.
