Message from the Chaplain: 24 June 2022

‘Plea for Africa’ by Revd John Knox Bokwe
Give a thought to Africa
‘Neath the burning sun
They are hosts of weary hearts
Waiting to be won
Many lives have passed away
And in many homes
There are voices crying out
To the living God
Tell the love of Jesus
By the hills and waters
God bless Africa
And her sons and daughters
Breathe a prayer for Africa
God the father’s love
Can reach down and bless all hearts
From his heav’n above
And when lips are moved by Grace
They so sweetly sing
Pray for peace in Africa
From the loving God
‘Plea for Africa’ by Revd John Knox Bokwe is an invitation to all of us. When faced with the daily challenges and busy schedules, we can still do something by offering a prayer on behalf of our continent and country.
This year, Corpus Christi fell on Thursday 16 June. When two significant commemoration days coincide, it may be challenging to choose which to celebrate. The feast of Corpus Christi is a celebration of the gift of the Eucharist. This feast allows us a significant interpretation of Corpus Christi, which offers a fundamental challenge for the community of Christ, that the goal of human society is unity and not segregation. As a school community, we are not immune to the social issues in our country. May we give thanks for our blessings and petition God for the suffering and uncertainty in our country.
