Over the weekend, from Friday 5 November to Sunday 7 November, the annual Gauteng Schools’ Rowing Championships took place. The event was hosted at Germiston Lake with all the Gauteng rowing clubs participating. St Mary’s came home with excellent results and lots of medals from all age groups! The St Mary’s rowing club placed first overall out of all girls’ schools, with the highest number of points achieved. The regatta was a great way to end the half-season, with smiles and high spirits. Good luck to our seniors who will continue training, as selections will be taking place for Boat Race which will be held during December in Port Alfred.

“In rowing, as in life, there are competitors and there are racers. The competitor works hard and rows to their limit. The racer does not think of limits, only the race.” -Jim Dietz
