Nightingdale Bamford School
We were thoroughly entertained and delighted on Monday morning by the visiting chamber chorus of Nightingale Bamford School from New York. Their performance repertoire included a wonderful array of contemporary songs, American gospel songs and some musical theatre numbers, with our choir joining in a combined item at the end of the concert. Their rendition of the prayer Ukuthula was especially heart-warming. They visited our campus for a concert and some socialising at the end of their national tour of South Africa. They performed concerts in Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, Pilanesberg National Park and WITS University on their two-week journey through our beautiful country. Nightingale Bamford and St Mary’s have strong ties as we have a yearly reciprocal exchange programme between the two schools. We were delighted to have Katharine Tilson and Katiya Jones, past exchange students, return to visit us with the chamber choir. We currentlyhave Madison Kim and Kate Evans visiting us on exchange from Nightingale Bamford, hosted by Mariella Nicolaou and Christina Cambanis, who were lucky enough to visit New York last year November.
