Two very excited St Mary’s teams participated in the AISJ basketball tournament from 24 to 26 January.

The 1st team played in the very competitive “varsity section”. The players adapted well to the demanding conditions by working together as a team and always giving of their best. They beat Waterford Kamhlaba and Crawford Sandton, but lost to a slick AISJ team.

Our tournament team consisted of a mix of players from different age groups, with the idea of providing the girls with an opportunity to play several matches and gain valuable experience at a high level. The players combined well and worked incredibly hard against top junior teams. Although the results were not always favourable, the players learned many valuable lessons and showed great improvement during the competition.

Basketball is growing steadily at St Mary’s. We are impressed with the commitment shown by the girls and we look forward to watching their progress in the future
