St Mary's creative workshops towards the Balfour Park upgrade artworks programme

“Art my Jozi is a Johannesburg Development Agency creative programme which highlights the importance of place making through art along the Transit Oriented Corridors and their surrounding neighbourhoods.” – Stephen Hobbs
Designing artwork for the Art My Jozi project provided the girls with an opportunity to work within a collaborative and skills-transference environment. Their creations and stories will be used to inspire the development of the design process and, eventually, inform many outcomes-based projects in and around these corridors.
The girls were encouraged to push the boundaries of conventional design and think beyond what they deemed was possible. The notion of functional art that held symbolic significance and provided aesthetic appeal was the order of the day. The facilitators marvelled at the girls’ work ethic and creative ideas.
It will certainly be exciting when work begins in the area and we can spot evidence of our involvement in the creative process.
