Old Mutual Roedean School Water Polo Prestige Cup

The St Mary’s water polo 1st team participated in the 2016/2017 Old Mutual Roedean School Water Polo Prestige Cup. They played Crawford Lonehill in the semi-final and beat them 7-4. This put them into the final against number one-ranked St Stithians College. The team found it difficult to find the back of the net until the third quarter of the game, which then opened up the gap for the St Mary’s 1st team, with Brittany Mackenzie scoring five strong goals in a row.
They ended up losing 15-6 to the very strong St Stithians side. The team placed second and won R15 000 prize money to go towards the school’s development swimming programme. Together with the participation money for the Swimathon held on the day, St Mary’s water polo team won a total of R25 000 towards the HA Jack Development Swimming Programme.
Courtney O’Shaughnessy, Daniela Passoni and Brittany Mackenzie were selected for the Old Mutual Cup Tournament Team.
