Junior School Singing Sistas 2023
On Wednesday and Thursday 8 and 9 March, the Junior School hosted our annual Singing Sistas Choir Festival. This event always promises to be mesmerising and this year did not disappoint! Over the two evenings, six junior school choirs impressed our audiences with their talent, poise and magnificent voices. I would like to thank and congratulate St Peter’s Girls Preparatory, St Katharine’s School, Kingsmead College, St Andrew’s Girls Junior School as well as Auckland Park Preparatory School for joining St Mary’s and singing marvellously. Both nights were filled with magical musical moments. Our audience of parents and teachers was blown away by the the individual choir performances as well as the combined items, Toto’s Africa and the Chorus medley, taught by Mrs Mehlomakhulu. We will all remember the moment when the audience broke into a spontaneous encore of the second item. A huge thank you to the St Mary’s music teachers and technical team for your hard work and collaboration.

As one of the visiting conductors remarked:
“When the mass item was performed again and both parents and choir members all started singing and dancing together I thought, if South Africa could embody this moment, a moment of Ubuntu, and continue to live and model Ubuntu to the next generation - all will be well.
