Netball
The Grade 3s began their netball season on Thursday 11 May. The girls were put into teams and for three Thursdays they played mini festivals at Brescia House, St Peter’s, and Roedean. The girls started off with a mixture of nerves and excitement. By the last matches, there was just excitement and a sense of accomplishment. Their skills and understanding of the game have progressed throughout the season. They are moving into space, defending and making great interceptions. All the teams enjoyed a very successful season.
On Friday 19 May, the Grade 6 and 7 girls had a fun afternoon playing netball with a significant gal in their life. The girls had to organise their own teams with four girls and each girl had to bring along a gal older than 25. The Junior School teachers also entered two teams in the festival. The teams were put into three pools and each team played four matches. It was a relaxed afternoon filled with fun and community spirit. Thank you to all the galz who were brave enough to spend the afternoon with us.
On Saturday 20 May, the Grades 4-7 netball girls played a quadrangular fixture with St Andrew’s, St Peter’s and St Stithians. Our Grades 6 and 7 A and B did not participate as there was no opposition for them to play against. It was a busy morning for most teams and the coaches. It gave the players the opportunity to play in other teams and positions as numerous girls were unable to participate owing to illness or other commitments. Well done to all the teams.
On Saturday 27 May, the Grades 3-5 A and B netball teams participated in the annual Holy Rosary netball festival. The Grade 3 purple
team won all their matches and the pink team won three of four of their matches. Grade 4A won three matches, drew two and lost one
and the B team won five of their seven matches, drew one and lost one. Grade 5A won five of their six matches and Grade 5B won all
six matches. Well done to all the players. It was a great festival to end the season.
