Know your city tour

On Tuesday 11 February, the Grade 7 girls took a bus tour of Johannesburg. We had expert guides, Tara Turkington and Sue Edey, who shared their fantastic wealth of knowledge with the girls. We drove through Alexandra Township, looked at the buildings in Sandton, viewed Johannesburg from Munro Drive, lunched and explored Villa Arcadia in Parktown, explored Victoria Yards in Lorentzville and then viewed the original St Mary’s building in Belgravia before heading home.

Here are some of the girls’ comments on the tour:
I learnt a lot of things I didn’t know before about Johannesburg. I liked seeing the skyline of Sandton and Rosebank. Seeing Lord and Lady Phillips house was fun and interesting.

I enjoyed learning about the history of Johannesburg and the different people and how they contributed to our history.

I enjoyed going to Alexandra and seeing the different living environments. I found it very interesting. I also enjoyed Victoria Yards. It didn’t look very nice from the outside but when we went inside it was really amazing and the gardens and shops were all different.
