The 2016 St Mary’s Foundation wine auction held on Friday 16 September at La Vie en Rose, Killarney Country Club was a resounding success. The event was well attended and the auctioneer, Gift Ngwenya steered the wine auction with great humour and persuasion. The final sum raised amounted to R485 000. This will make a significant contribution to changing the lives of 275 pupils from surrounding communities who attend the St Mary’s Ikusasa Lethu programme.

We extend our sincere thanks to the St Mary’s community of current and past parents and Standard Bank, the main sponsors of the event, who made significant difference to the amount of money raised.

Gavin Dittmar, CEO and Heidi Duminy, St Mary’s Old Girl and Marketing Manager at Meridian wine merchants very kindly managed the solicitation of sponsored wine for the auction lots from various wine estates and donated two very special Meridian private access personalized advisory services for limited release wines.

David Bate very kindly donated a dinner and a wine pairing at the Codfather, Sandton Skye. We are truly grateful to Simonsig Estate, Jean Engelbrecht’s Stellenbosch Reserve Collection, Mulderbosch, Rust en Vrede, Leopard’s Leap, Paul Cluver, Ernie Els wines, Tokara, Pierre Jourdan, Haute Cabrière, La Motte and Meerlust for the generosity extended to the St Mary’s Foundation.
