Exploring new media in the Little Saints Art Studio
Exploring charcoal
The children at Little Saints were given charcoal and different kinds of paper to explore. They pressed hard and soft and smudged the charcoal to see what effect they could create with the charcoal.
UV light drawings
The children used neon markers and highlights to draw a picture. We then turned on the UV light to see how our pictures glowed! The children were thrilled with the effect to which one girl commented, “Something magical is happening!”
Soft Pastels
The children often use oil pastels in their work but today we explored soft pastels otherwise known as chalk pastels. These pastels have vivid colours and lend themselves well to blending, mixing and smudging. The children enjoyed the process of testing how they can use the soft pastels.
