Senior Primary collaborative research week - City of champions

Day one started with a visit to the Wanderers Stadium to give the girls an insight into the design of a stadium and the various areas that are needed in a stadium. A walk through the players change rooms and gym and then down the tunnel on to the field was a wonderful experience. We were fortunate to meet and talk to Protea player – Eddy Leie.
Day two included a talk on designing a stadium and the essentials needed in the Olympic village. It was wonderful to hear the girls chatting afterwards about using “grey water”, building an eco-pool and considering the environment. Ros Howell chatted to the girls about her experiences when she went to the Athens Olympics as the coach of the woman’s hockey team.

Day three: Building plans were refined and the construction began. There was lots of discussion and some changes made to the plans.
Day four and five: The construction continued and the final product was ready in time which really pleased the girls. A review sheet was done with the group and their reflections on the four days can be viewed in the library.
