Support and counselling
St Mary’s has a counselling and careers centre named The Open Door. Its philosophy is centred on a holistic and preventative approach, and it runs numerous group sessions and workshops.
The Open Door team works holistically with members of Little Saints in the area of learning and development. Its role is to collaborate with members of staff and private therapists (occupational therapy, physiotherapy, remedial, and speech and language therapy), to ensure the wellbeing of all children. It participates in weekly therapy and termly care and concern meetings. The team is in contact with teachers on a daily basis, sometimes observing in classrooms and on the playground. It provides emotional screenings and parent guidance, and can assist with referrals to outside psychologists and other professionals in the scope of learning and development.
Informative Muse Mornings are hosted during the term, where relevant parenting issues are discussed.
Health Centre
St Mary’s School has a well-equipped health centre with two experienced, qualified school nurses. Our nurses provide superb care for girls and boys who are ill or injured, and they inform parents and girls about seasonal viruses and other contagious diseases. Their focus is not only on healing; they promote healthy living and eating campaigns in both the Junior and Senior Schools.
