Starting a new school can be a daunting prospect for many students. It is therefore essential that new pupils to St Mary’s School settle down and feel at home as soon as possible. Both staff and pupils make it a priority to provide the new girls with assistance and reassurance as they are integrated into the St Mary’s community.

Junior School

Parents of new girls are invited to an information evening in the October prior to their daughter’s starting at St Mary’s. At this function, a brief overview of the approach to learning in the Junior School is presented by various heads of departments. Parents then meet class teachers, where relevant information for the following year is shared. All new girls are invited to attend an orientation party before the new school year.

Senior School

All new Form I pupils and their parents are invited to a welcoming function in the October of their Grade 7 year. On this occasion the girls are entertained by the Form Vs, while their parents are hosted by the head of school and Senior School staff members.

On the day prior to the start of the new school year, all Form Is and new girls attend an orientation day.
