OUR STORY
St Mary's School, Waverley, is an independent Anglican school catering for girls from Grade 0 to matric. Little Saints, its pre-primary school, offers schooling for boys and girls for Grades 000 and 00.
St Mary's was established in 1888, making it Johannesburg’s oldest school. Its rich history, its leadership and its Anglican tradition and ethos ensure that it remains relevant in the South African context, yet offers an education for a 21st century global world.
Its pupils come from diverse backgrounds and are encouraged to embrace their individuality, and to be open, friendly and confident. An impressive number have made their mark in the arts and sciences, business, politics, the media and sport, both locally and abroad.

My matric class of 2019 had real love for each other. Not the kind where you'd have to be with one another all the time, but the kind where you know someone in the grade will always be there for you regardless. We are always ready to help each other, defend each other and laugh with each other. People often struggle to accurately define the word ubuntu, what it means, so people come up with meanings for themselves, define the word as what it means to them. To me, the love and genuine care in my matric class of 2019 is my definition of ubuntu.
