The MySchool Card is a Woolworths initiative that provides a significant benefit to the school, through a percentage of expenditure being routed back to the school. Parents, grandparents and supporters can all contribute by simply showing their MySchool Card at certain suppliers.

The St Mary’s Rose was propagated to celebrate the school’s 120th birthday. This has proven to be popular, both as a part of St Mary’s School in gardens and as a gift. The rose is a red hybrid tea that produces an abundance of medium- to long-stemmed, shapely blooms in bright velvet red.

HOPE (Hearing Other People’s Experiences) focuses on the St Mary’s parent community, because what happens at home affects our children at school. Interested parents come together with the aim of engaging each other in experiences around diversity.

Club 100 is very successful in raising funds for the PA, while giving parents a chance to get some of their school fees paid. Parents contribute to Club 100 on a termly basis and stand a chance of winning 100% of their next term’s fees, paid by the PA. There are also second and third prizes, paying 20% and 10% respectively. The cost of Club 100 is R200 per child per term, and is a voluntary contribution.

Annual events

The PA is instrumental in organising and hosting a number of exciting and fun-filled activities each year, including the PA Golf Day and the Junior School fun day. In the spirit of building the St Mary’s community, the PA also arranges smaller events for teachers, parents and pupils to connect with one another.
