Message from the head of school, Deanne King

7 January 2020

To the St Mary’s Class of 2019

Congratulations on your excellent Matric results. Your hard work of the past years has been rewarded. It is now time to enjoy the shine of success. St Mary’s has come to expect a 100% pass, and your group has maintained this record. Your Class also achieved a noteworthy 98% bachelor degree pass. As a group you have 330 distinctions, with 54 girls achieving a 75% average or higher. I want to make special mention of the six girls who feature on the IEB’s Outstanding and Commendable Achievers list and the 12 girls placed in the top 1% of a subject. St Mary’s is proud of each individual member of the Class of 2019.

As I noted in your yearbook, your group has enriched our school through a sincere and enthusiastic contribution to life at St Mary’s. We have been fortunate to benefit from your group’s energy and your teachers and I have appreciated the way in which you have balanced your personal endeavours with the demands of school life. You will be remembered for the value that you placed on community and issues of social justice. I encourage you to maintain this commitment and to use your talents to work for a better and just society.

Treasure your education and embrace the opportunities that now await you.

God bless you all as you embark on a new chapter of your lives and know that you have a home at St Mary’s School.
