General admission information for Little Saints, the Junior School and the Senior School

Step 1

A parent or legal guardian applying for registration of a pupil must complete an application form, pay the necessary non-refundable application fee (R350) and furnish St Mary’s with the following documents:

  • Copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • Copies of the parents’/ guardians’ IDs or passports
  • Copy of the pupil’s latest school report (if applicable) and latest fee statement for school last attended (if applicable)
  • Proof of payment of the application fee

Please feel free to visit St Mary’s School, Waverley, to collect an application form.

Please mail, email, or drop off the necessary documents at St Mary’s.

Preference is given to siblings of pupils already at St Mary’s School, Waverley, daughters of past pupils who have matriculated from St Mary’s, and children of permanent staff at St Mary’s.

Once payment of the application fee has been received, you will receive a letter confirming receipt of your application.

Admission to Little Saints

Little Saints tours take place on Wednesday at 08h15, and take approximately 45 minutes.

If you are unable to attend this tour time, please contact Mirka Glyptis to make an alternative arrangement.

Step 4

Girls and boys are admitted to Little Saints for Grade 000 in the year they are three (3), turning four (4). Boys leave St Mary’s when they enter Grade 0.

Junior School tours take place on Friday at 07h15 and take approximately 45 minutes.

Step 4

Grade 0 pupils must be turning six (6) during the year of admission. A few vacancies do become available in other grades from time to time. As vacancies occur, parents are invited for an interview with the Junior School headmistress and the girls are assessed.

Tours take place on Fridays at 07h30 and take approximately 45 minutes.

Step 4

Form I (Grade 8)

Girls usually enter the Senior School in Form I (Grade 8). At the beginning of your daughters’ Grade 7 year, the admissions secretary will contact applicants with details of the entrance days that take place early in February each year. When offering a place, consideration is given to a girl’s performance in the entrance assessment in English, her cultural and sporting interests, her interview with the staff and her latest school report.

Forms II to IV (Grades 9 to 11)

A few places do become available in these grades. Your daughter will be required to write entrance assessments in Mathematics and English. In offering a place, consideration is given to her performance in the entrance assessments, her cultural and sporting interests, her interview and her latest school report.

Step 5

Based on availability, credit checks, the diagnostic assessment and the interview, your daughter is either offered a position at St Mary’s School, Waverley, or is placed on the waiting list.
