Waterpolo
Waterpolo is a fairly young sport at St Mary’s. The talent and commitment shown by the current Matrics has resulted in St Mary’s playing in the Gauteng Girls’ league. We currently have 6 waterpolo teams in the Senior School ranging from U14 to the 1st Team.
The St Mary’s 1st Team reached the bronze medal match at the 2009 and 2010 National Girls’ Aquatics Festival, where they obtained an overall 4th place. They excelled at the Old Petrian’s tournament where they qualified for the quarter finals.
The Junior School players have enjoyed their second waterpolo season. We have three teams ranging from U11 to U13. Last year, St Mary’s had 11 Gauteng representatives.
St Mary’s have 23 provincial representatives from U13 to U18 levels. Amica Hallendorff represented South Africa as part of the Junior Ladies SA team in Russia last year.
