The Environmental Awareness Club, more colloquially called The Green Dream, is a club initiated by the girls for the girls. The club is managed by a committee of five or six girls. This committee decides on which initiatives the club would like to undertake and does the general housekeeping for the club.
The club meets fortnightly on Wednesday mornings at 07h00. During this time, members explore environmental issues while simultaneously having some fun. Issues raised range from forthcoming awareness campaigns and discussions on global issues to vegetarianism. Girls are able to make presentations to the club on environmental issues as well as advertise and present their initiatives to the School as a whole. Members are also encouraged to spend half an hour a week moving recyclable paper from classrooms to the Mondi collection point.
Not only are girls able to work towards both half and full colours within the Environmental Awareness Club, but they are also given the opportunity to meet girls in other Forms, learn from one another, become aware of topical issues and to provide a service to the environment.
