Dear
Friends and Colleagues
On 12
February 2008 at approximately 7am our beautiful 12-year-old daughter Emily
Colette Williams was shot in the head after interrupting an armed robbery while
collecting a neighbour’s child on the way to school.
This
senseless tragic death has touched the hearts of many, both nationally and
internationally. Emily was an
exceptional child and all who truly knew her commented on her “presence”, her
intelligence, her sense of humour, her sparkle, her spunkiness and determination
and her beautiful smile.
Emily
dreamed of making a difference in this world.
She had her heart set on attending St Mary’s School in Waverley, where
she had been accepted, and was unwavering in her belief that this was what she
wanted. To continue Emily’s legacy and
assist other talented girls to fulfill their dreams as she herself was not
able, we have decided to set up the Emily Williams Legacy – a fund to
contribute towards the building of the “M.A.D.” Centre - a stimulating cultural
Music, Art and Drama Centre,
which celebrates the creative spirit. To commemorate Emily’s life one of the
classrooms will be named the Emily Williams Room, a special place filled with
love, light and laughter.
Emily
reached out and touched so many lives in only 12 years. With your help let her continue to reach even
further. Emily, you will never be forgotten.
