The vision of St Mary’s School Community Affairs Department is to make a contribution to the broader education system and to engender an awareness of those in need in South Africa.

• To provide opportunities for the staff and girls at St Mary’s to assist others in need.
• Collaborative partnerships with schools in our neighbourhood serving historically disadvantaged communities.
• To provide a supplementary educational programme for high ability learners from the 5 high schools in Alexandra.
• To provide an entrepreneurial skills programme for disadvantaged learners and encourage learners to set up small businesses.
• To facilitate educator forums for teachers from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Alexandra High Schools Project - 2008

150 Grade 11 and 12's have attended Saturday school and school holiday programmes at St Mary's in 2008.

The 2007 class achieved a 96% pass rate with 16 distinctions.

The project aims to assist academically gifted learners from Alexandra to pass matriculation and be admitted to universities and other tertiary institutions.

Round Square

A group of 8 girls attended the Round Square Regional Conference in Gaberone, Botswana from the 30^th April to the 4^th of May 2008.

Round Square is a world- wide association of more than 50 schools on 5 continents. Round Square schools have a strong commitment, beyond academically excellence, to personal development and responsibility.  This is achieved by participating in community service, work projects, exchange programmes and adventuring.
