The Chapel is the heart of the school.  It is a place that offers peace and serenity for anyone who enters.  It is also a place of safety for all in need.  Every day  the Angelus is rung at 12:25pm, resulting in every girl and teacher taking a moment from her busy life and standing in silence.  A group of teachers meet each Monday to pray for the school.  Every week, each girl in the School has a chapel assembly led by Father Bailey or Revd Lee where various aspects of the Christian faith are presented.  The Sunday service, a highlight in many people's week, is hosted at St Mary's Chapel at 5:30pm by Father Jerry Bailey.  Holy Communion is celebrated every second Sunday.  Children, family and friends are welcome.

St Mary's School Prayer

Lord Jesus, child of Bethlehem
Bless our School and all its members past and present.
Be with us in our worship, in our work and in our play.
Inspire the hearts of those who teach and those who learn.
Train those who rule and those who obey that all may offer Thee the perfect service, which is worthy of Thy love,
Who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
Ever one God, world without end.
Amen

Sisters of Christ Society (SOCS):  At this school we are privileged to have a society such as SOCS where we are able to acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Saviour and freely associate with other Christians, encouraging each other and reaching out to the school community.

SOCS meets every Friday at second break.  A committee of five girls plan these meetings where we often have guest speakers who bring fresh and relevant perspectives or we may watch DVD's. In many sessions we have discussions around the topic for the day and on some occasions we do completely different and exciting things! A favourite has been our "In the closet" series where one of the committee members uses a video camera as her journal, and speaks to the camera about a topical issue in a humorous way. This video clip is no longer than five minutes and the issues that are raised are discussed among the girls in the remainder of the meeting time, relating the issue to relevant and significant biblical principles.

Prayer meetings are held once a week in the Chapel in the early mornings. Strong relationships are developed amongst the girls in this time as we support each other and lift each other up in prayer. This is a wonderful time to further one's walk with Christ.

Both SOCS meetings and the prayer meetings are voluntary and it is fantastic to see the number of girls who make the choice to come. God is definitely moving in the school and it is so exciting to be a part of His incredible work.
