St Mary’s has a Counselling and Careers Centre,The Open Door. Our philosophy is centred on an holistic and preventative approach. To this end, we run numerous groups and workshops.

Our team consists of an Educational Psychologist (Heidi Burkhalter) and School Counsellor (Kerry Caldeira). We work holistically with all members of Little Saints in the area of learning and development. Our role is to collaborate with members of staff and private therapists (Occupational, Physiotherapy, Remedial and Speech and Language), to ensure the well-being of each of our children. We participate in weekly therapy and termly Care and Concern meetings, and are in contact with teachers on a daily basis, sometimes observing in classrooms and on the playground. We provide emotional screenings, parent guidance and can assist with referrals to outside psychologists and other professionals in the scope of learning and development.

Muse Mornings are hosted in SMOGS Cottage, twice a term, where relevant parenting issues including bullying are discussed.
