Grade 6 is the awesome year all St Mary's girls look forward to.
Beyond the classroom walls
Adventure - Kloofwaters
The year swings in to action with the Grade 6 tour to Kloofwaters. Here our adrenalin is at an all time high as we do rock climbing, hiking, team building activities and not forgetting the squeals of delight down the bum-slides! It is a safe environment where the girls have the opportunity to form new and cement old friendships. They learn about the night sky and have the opportunity to learn about vultures and bird ringing and get to meet Percy the Cape vulture. The girls participate in times of devotion where they hear the Word of God and have the opportunity to sing songs of praise. With this type of start to a fulfilling year- the girls can only expect more wonderful and exciting activities!
The Arts
Annual School Play
Singing, dancing, rehearsing and performing! The school play this year is Kick It 2010, written and directed by Christi Lawless and Marileen Botha, which celebrated 2010 soccer fever St Mary's style! Every girl has a role to play in making the production a huge success and the Grade 6s took on the roles Proudly South African - opening the show with vuvuzelas, balls and whistles, and ending it with braaitongs!
An integrated approach
All for one and one for ALL!
Grade 6 is a caring and committed group of young individuals standing united and working together as a team. Several of our lessons are taught as a whole group with teachers team teaching and integrating different learning areas. Girls are exposed to the dynamic 3D benefits of Interactive White Board lessons. Grade 6 is a year where the girls can grow in confidence, independence and responsibility as they develop into young woman of the future.
